Communication in Technology

Some people say that with all the technology we have available today, we rely too much on our texting, emailing, and phone-calling for communication with other people. These people feel that using technology to communicate is impersonal and also that the writing skills of today's students are declining. I believe that today's communication via technology can sometimes be impersonal, but often feels genuine, as though the conversation is happening in person. As to the declining writing skills, I believe that students today are learning to express themselves in texts and posts using slang and abbreviations that at times carry over inadvertently into their formal writing, where it is not acceptable. So, in certain situations, yes the writing skills of students today are declining, if only slightly.
